According to Time Magazine, The House passed a resolution on Friday morning that denounces the "horrors of socialism". I am stunned that, out of 435 members of Congress, that only 98 members of Congress understand what Socialism means, and how it applies to the United States, as they were the only ones to vote against this idiotic legislation.
This vote was nothing more than a slap in the face to Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani, the democratic socialist who is scheduled to visit the White House for a meeting with President Trump.
The resolution itself "denounces socialism in all its forms, and opposes the implementation of socialist policies in the United States".
Some examples of socialism in the United States gets you, as a citizen:
- State and Federally maintained interstate and intrastate road systems.
- Police department
- Fire Department
- Education
- Welfare
- SNAP
- WIC
- Earthquake insurance
- Flood insurance
- Unemployment insurance
- Housing assistance
- Public Transportation
- Environmental Regulations
- Minimum Wage Laws
Any social program funded by the government that acts as a social safety net for the population of the United States. Please note, While Social Security and Medicare are both government administered programs, Citizens fund those programs through pre-tax withdrawals on their earned money. Thus, Social Security and Medicare NOT a socialist program.
No country can avoid having aspects of Socialism, because it is these exact programs that ensure the safety and prosperity of its citizenry in the form of Police, and Fire protection, funded in some way by the government. Socialism provides the capacity for trade within the United States, in the form of state and federally maintained interstate and intrastate road systems.
This country sits at a crossroads. We can decide that we will be decent human beings who take care of each other, or we can decide that every person should be out for themselves, and FUCK everyone else.
This country needs to grow up and realize that, as humans, we are far better off being less concerned about "who might be getting something that they don't need / deserve" and more concerned about ensuring that everyone has their basic needs met. A population who is not worried about where their next meal is coming from, or if they will have a roof over their head, is a better base population for a country, than one that views everyone else as a potential thief who is out to get a person's hard worked for gains.
Your congressional representative have spoken for everyone today, rejecting any form of Socialism. Please contact your congressional and senatorial representatives today to let them know your thoughts and feelings on their lunacy and lack of understanding.
