Scooby's A Truth In Politics

Enough, It's Time To Stop The Lies!

The First Amendment gives us and the Press Freedom of Speech, the text of that amendment says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

That gives you and/or the press the right to say what you want without the Government trying to stop you.  This does not mean you cannot be held accountable for lies or for what you said by your friends/employer/etc, that accountability could come by firing you, not having any thing to do with you or just calling you out on what you said.  No where does it say that can't be done, but it does say the Government can't do it.  That is not the case for a member of the British press reporting on the goings on here in the U.S. as covered in The Guardian here.
<<<Update>>> November 10th, his family says we the United States are finally going to release him as covered in The Guardian here. <<<End Update>>

This is not acceptable in our society with our laws and NO ONE should find it acceptable. It does not matter if you agree or disagree with what the reporter said or did, the reporter has the right to not be detained for his views.  That is un-American, that is fascism, that is not acceptable, do not stand for it.  Let your representatives know this is not and tell them one of their jobs is to perform the Checks and Balances on the other branches of government.
